I consider myself an intelligent person. I consider myself a very good designer and have some prizes to validate. However, both do not always go together, you just may not be smart makes a good designer.
As designers, we all have that stroke of inspiration that leads to a great idea. Over the years I had a few. Some good ideas and some very, very bad. Is the bad guys who stand out in my memory. I remember two in particular.
Some years ago in the day unit, I would pass small slides of my work to a disk and send it to potential customers. I also had the bright idea to put my well-designed business card magnet self adhesive and put it in the same envelope as the disk. After all, from the perspective of seeing my portfolio for stunning that want to get the card to the metal surface Next for future reference. Clever, huh? Well, the imam, as you already understood, clears the disc so that all my efforts, missed the spirit.
While working with a large university, my supervisor and I met with a sign with contact information cards mounted on it. The poster should be sent to each high school counselor in the state. The final product was beautiful. Nice shot beautiful campus, well-written information on holdings and well designed maps and attractive. But wait! During the dissemination of information on all the cards fell to the poster. I assume most of these cartels ended in the trash. Its intelligent design effective total loss.
An editor friend of mine, Steve White, once sent a self-promotional piece that included a small bottle of hot sauce to further strengthen the premise that it was a "hot" talent and should be hired. Very, very smart. One small problem. Small broken bottles in the mail and the recipient has received a Promo disorder in a song of welcome.
As you can see how intelligent design is not always good. Good design is well thought out. Like I told my children when they were young, you should follow your way of thinking all the way to the end to a logical conclusion. "In other words, you have to think about design, but the overall result. Even the way they are delivered to end users and how it is in
The type design is not just pretty pictures and printed on fine paper. Good design is much more. When good is received by the user and delivers the desired message. Do not throw away or at least not immediately, because of this mess. We are bombarded every working day. You see, in particular, advertising today. Sometimes used in Instead of good, thoughtful design. The pet rock was intelligent design of Volkswagen Commercial 60's were good.

Goin’ to Kansas City [2003] $16.98 Jay McShann is one of Kansas City’s great treasures, and this disc brings him back to his hometown to record for the first time in almost 50 years, although he’s lived there for many decades. Made piecemeal over a few years (although it hangs together so well that you wouldn’t know it), these are very definitely the same Kansas City blues that are at the root of music from Charlie Parker and Count Basie. A marvelous, effortless pianist, he seems happiest on material with a strong connection to the blues, like “Kansas City,” which comes in two versions, or his very rooted version of “Ain’t Nobody’s Business.” And when he gets to the completely solo “The Fish Fry Boogie,” age slips completely from his fingers, with some spirited stride playing and a strong left hand under the dexterous right. The excellent Duke Robillard lends strong support on several tracks on acoustic and electric guitars, Maria Muldaur duets on “Confessin’ The Blues,” and the great Johnnie Johnson sits in for “Some Kinda Crazy” and one of the versions of “Kansas City,” which really catches fire. The whole album is an absolute joy, and covers a lot of ground, including the long interview with McShann that forms the long bonus track — and includes more of his playing. It’s great to know that they can still make blues like this. ~ Chris Nickson, All Music GuidePerformers: Johnnie Johnson – Piano, Vocals; Jay McShann – Piano, Vocals; Maria Muldaur – Vocals; Duke Robillard – Guitar (Acoustic), Guitar (Electric) |
